There’s been a renewed interest in the Dreamcast as of late and there’s a vibrant community that still supports the console. Plenty of collectors are still trying to complete their collection, but it’s becoming expensive in some cases. Accordingly, here are the 10 rarest Sega Dreamcast games and how much they’re worth.

10 Bangai-O - $150-200 (CIB)

Treasure is a legendary developer that’s put together a lot of memorable and unique titles. Bangai-O is a chaotic multi-directional shooter that’s an absolute onslaught and a real challenge even for shooter veterans.

The title is significant because it was the only English version of the game for some time before it began to be ported over to consoles in more recent years. A complete in box copy will go for around $200, but the title is so rare that even the disc alone for North American copies commonly costs between $60-80.

9 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure - $150-250 (CIB)

A pairing between Capcom and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure seems like a match made in heaven and the Dreamcast fighter is an absolute delight (and actually contains two titles). JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is enjoyable for both fans of the anime series and 2D fighters.

The title has seen an HD remaster on online services, but the Dreamcast title is the only physical console version. For this reason, the game is still a real rarity and commonly goes for $150-250 and that’s just for a used version that’s complete in box.

8 Giga Wing 2 - $200-$400 (NIB)

Giga Wing 2 is one of Capcom’s many insane 2D shooters that were released on the Dreamcast. It’s an extreme challenge and it just looks beautiful due to how it was released towards the end of the Dreamcast’s life. Giga Wing 2 didn’t use to be that coveted, but over the past decade the price has skyrocketed and a new in box version will go for anywhere between $200 and $400. Its predecessor, Giga Wing, also isn’t cheap, but it’s nothing compared to this.

7 Mars Matrix - $250 (NIB)

Mars Matrix is a Capcom shooter for the Dreamcast that largely flew under the radar. It’s not incredibly unique, but it’s still a polished experience that stresses out the gamer as they try to stay on top of the rain of bullets that come down. Mars Matrix is a Dreamcast exclusive, which is part of the reason that its price tag is so high at $250 for a sealed and new copy. That being said, used copies still go for $150 and it’s a rare item for Dreamcast collectors.

6 Project Justice - $250 (CIB)

Capcom’s Rival Schools fighting franchise (known as Project Justice in North America) never quite caught on as much as it should have. Project Justice, the second title in the franchise, is a fighter that’s full of strange and unique characters. However, Project Justice was released in North America after the Dreamcast’s discontinuation had been announced, which wasn’t much of a purchasing incentive. Project Justice is a Dreamcast exclusive and the price has fluctuated over the years, but it’s currently still a big item and a used complete in box copy costs $250.

5 Skies Of Arcadia - $250-300 (NIB)

For hardcore RPG fans, the Dreamcast’s Skies of Arcadia is an absolute must. It’s an exceptional and creative RPG that’s one of the best titles on the entire console and has mostly remained a Dreamcast exclusive experience, aside from an enhanced GameCube release. Skies of Arcadia wasn’t always an expensive and rare title, but now a new in box copy costs between $250-300 and a complete in box used copy is still $150. In this case there’s at least an amazing game to be played.

4 Power Stone 2 - $300+ (NIB)

Before Super Smash Bros. Melee came around, the Dreamcast’s Power Stone 2 was the benchmark for four-player fighting games (and there’s a sizable crowd that still prefers Power Stone 2). The game is so creative and different for a fighting game. It’s the perfect example of the Dreamcast’s power & unique nature and it’s a tragedy that Capcom hasn’t tried to revive the series. Power Stone 2 has turned into a very rare item over the past decade. A completely new version costs $300, with used versions going for $200, and people even paying $100 just for the disc.

3 Gunbird 2 - $300-400 (NIB)

Gunbird 2 is a 2D scrolling shooter courtesy of Capcom and Psikyo that continues the franchise which previously had been released on the Sega Saturn. The title is quirky and fun, but its price has more to do with its scarcity than the quality. For the longest time Gunbird 2’s only physical release was on the Dreamcast, but it was recently ported over to the Switch. This seems to have not hurt the title’s price tag, since new Dreamcast copies still go for between $300 and $400.

2 Illbleed - $400 (NIB)

Illbleed is one of the Dreamcast’s most original and overlooked titles. It’s a self-aware spin on the survival horror genre and it’s actually a very enjoyable game that’s both frightening and challenging. Illbleed has never made its way over to any other consoles, so the fact that it’s locked away on the Dreamcast is why it’s seen as such a relic. New and sealed copies go for $400, but regular used copies still fetch at least $200. It’s a fantastic title, but it’s unfortunately been gatekept so many can’t experience it.

1 Cannon Spike - $400-500 (NIB)

Cannon Spike is a fever dream of an action title from Capcom. It throws a lot of its franchises into a blender together to deliver a tightly paced action game that has some of the best boss battles on the console. Cannon Spike is just pure entertainment and it’s unfortunately another game that’s remained a Dreamcast exclusive. The ability to play as Mega Man is also just too much fun. The title’s price has steadily grown over time and now a new in box version can cost anywhere between $400 and $500.
