That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime started out as a web novel, and now it has been adapted into proper light novels, manga, and anime series and movies. The second season of the anime was aired in 2021, with a new movie planned to be released in 2022. The movie will feature a newly written original story, so that means the third season of the anime will continue the story based on the original light novel. Every season of the anime usually adapts three volumes worth of story, which means that it is highly likely that the third season will tell the story from volume 7 through 9. What Happened In Season 2
Before we talk about what will happen in season 3, let’s briefly recount the events of season 2. There are a lot of crucial things happening in the second season, but these three major events were the most stand-out ones. The Invasion of Tempest. While Rimuru is fighting against Hinata Sakaguchi, the Kingdom of Falmuth actually invades Tempest and kills countless citizens. When Rimuru managed to get back to his nation and see what had unfolded, he massacred the army of Falmuth, leaving only the king and some of its attendance. In order to have the power to revive his citizen, Rimuru evolve into a demon lord.
The Attack on Clayman. When Rimuru found out that Clayman was involved in the recent invasion on Tempest and now currently mobilizing his army towards Eurazania, Rimuru decided to confront him with his own army, composed of Tempest’s elite fighters. Clayman boasts an army with 30,000 soldiers, but all of them are easily subjugated by Tempest’s warriors. Not only that, they even went as far as going to Clayman’s domain and occupied his castle. Rimuru of the Octagram. While both Clayman and Rimuru’s army were clashing, a meeting of demon lords called Walpurgis happened at the same time. Every demon lord was present, and it was decided that Rimuru should fight Clayman in order to prove his worth and his claims on Clayman’s scheme. Rimuru easily defeated and killed Clayman. After that, demon lords Carrion and Frey decided to step out of their position, which forced them to change their name from “Ten Great Demon Lords” to “The Octagram”.
The Clash With Hinata Sakaguchi
Hinata and Rimuru started out with a very bad first impression of each other. However, Hinata later on finds out that she was being manipulated by false information when she attacks Rimuru. So as a representative of The Holy Empire Ruberios, Hinata and her Paladin decided to visit the Jura Tempest Federation and talk to Rimuru.
Hinata and her Paladin are shocked by the technological prowess of the Jura Tempest Federation that far exceeds any other country. Unfortunately, once again there is a foul play happening to make sure Hinata and Rimuru kill each other. Both parties actually intend to have a peaceful talk, but an all-out fight between Hinata and her Paladin and Rimuru and his executives is simply unavoidable.
The Tempest Founder’s Festival
To celebrate the founding of Tempest and to strengthen the diplomatic relationship between Tempest and its surrounding nations, Rimuru decided to hold the biggest festival in the world called “The Tempest Founder’s Festival”.
However, other than to forge a strong diplomatic relationship between Tempest and other nations, the festival is also a massive marketing stunt designed to promote Tempest. Rimuru makes sure that his staff are ready to showcase their excellent hospitality industry, the delicious cuisine, the superb entertainment, and also the advanced technology that surpass any other nations in the world.
Tempest Battle Tournament
One of the biggest events during the festival is the massive battle tournament. Rimuru spends a lot of time tinkering with everything related to this event, and he hopes to make this one of the main attractions of The Jura Tempest Federation. So what better way to do this than to let the one and only hero of the world, Lightspeed Masayuki, participate.
There are so many thrilling fights happening during the tournament and the audiences along with the representatives from other nations are in high spirits. Behind the scene, however, it is a logistical nightmare and one problem keeps on popping up after the other. After all this time, Rimuru finally started to feel exhausted over his role as a ruler.
As you can see, based on the light novels, the third season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will be a mix of thrilling and wholesome story. It will begin with the battle of the century between the head of the Paladin of the Holy Empire and the ruler of the nation of monsters. But after that, it will be a rather chill and wholesome story till the end.
